Pearl Wight and her nursing colleague Sally Bambridge left for Nepal in October 2008 for a 5-week trip. Although Pearl has known Dorjee for some time after they first met last year whilst trekking in Everest, for both Pearl and Sally this was their first visit to the Helambu Region. It was a very busy few weeks of visiting the local clinics as well as holding health camps in the community.

Pearl Wight is nurse who first visited Nepal in 2005 whilst doing the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek and returned to complete the Everest Base Camp trek in 2007. It was on the latter trip when she was first introduced to Dorjee and the VEG. She too felt moved to make a difference and on returning has undertaken a number of fundraising activities in the Arran area.

New water supplies were installed at the Baruwa medical clinic in April 2008 thanks to a £400 donation from Pearl and Sally, who raised the money by volunteering to pack customers bags at their local Coop supermarket.

Pearl Wight ran the Skye Half Marathon on June 12th 2010 in aid of the Helambu Project. Thanks ti the support of patients and staff at Arran Memorial Hospital, Pearl raised £320 on the day.
