banchory surgery

The various team members of the surgery including the doctors, nurses and reception/administration team have undertaken a variety of fundraising schemes. So far these include a quiz (open to all patients) about the surgery, a sponsored diet, sponsored walks and a guess the baby's weight and name!

On July 25th over 20 members of the surgery's nursing, medical, reception and administration staff braced the pouring rain of the Scottish summer to walk around the impressive Glen Tanar estate on Deeside. We were all hardy enough to survive the weather and rounded up the afternoon by feasting on a large barbecue. Thankfully we were blessed on discovering a huge oak tree under which to get stuck into our grub!

12 brave volunteers from the staff decided in May 2008 to go on a sponsored diet. Whilst there is a cloak of secrecy surrounding the issue over who exactly lost how much, they have made public the fact that they lost a total of 72lbs in weight over their 10 week slog. The suggestion however, that we should consider raising further money on the back of  his by gambling on just how much they'll gain back before Christmas didn't go down too well.

Well done girls!

Banchory Surgery got together with  fellow colleagues from the local healthcare system in Deeside for a quiz night on Friday 24th September 2009  Arranged by Gill Walding at Scott Skinners in Banchory, the night attracted teams from Fountain Lodge Dental surgery, Glen O’Dee hospital, Burrell’s Pharmacy, physiotherapists, midwifes and a host of staff from Banchory Group Practice. After feeding our brains with stovies we then settled down for the serious business of finding out just who was the cleverest health professional of all. After attaining a lead in the early rounds, the midwifes ‘Baby Catchers’ became uncatchable and ended up being worthy winners. Thanks to hard work of Agnes McKenzie, a raffle was held at the close of the evening. A total of £614 was raised for helambu project.
